Bogdan Stefan VASILE received his MSc degree in Composite Materials in 2008 and his PhD Award in Chemical Engineering in 2011 from the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest, Romania. His PhD research activities have focused on the synthesis and characterization of zirconia and alumina nanopowders and nanocomposites. From 2008 has been Scientific Researcher at University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest, Faculty of Applied Chemistry and Materials Science, Department of Science and Engineering of Oxide Materials and Nanomaterials. His research interests involve the unconventional chemical synthesis, characterisation and multipurpose applications of advanced micro and nanomaterials. His main specialisation is in the field of Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (STEM), Energy dispersive X-Ray analysis (EDX), Energy Filtered Transmission Electron Microscopy (EFTEM) and Energy Electron Loss Spectroscopy (EELS). His specializations in the field of microscopy have been made at FEI Application Laboratory, Eindhoven the Nederland’s, at Anadolu University, Eskisehir, Turkey (School and Workshop on the Electron Microscopy of Ceramics Materials) and at Institute for Electron microscopy of Graz University of Thecnology, Graz, Austria (EELS and EFTEM course), Titan Themis Life Science-Vitrobot and Crio TEM, Titan themis 200 materials Science and Versa 3d –SEM-FIB and EDS. The overall research activities have allowed Bogdan S. Vasile to publish over 155 ISI papers (20 as principal author) with a total ISI factor over 150; the H index is 25 (based on Thompson Reuters) while the number of citations is > 1700. He is also Founding Member and first President for the Electron Microscopy Society from Romania, member and Romanian delegate for European Microscopy Society, Member of Romnian Ceramic Society, European ceramic Society. From 2008 he is the Leader of the Structural Analysis and Electron Mmicroscopy laboratory at UPB and techical Director at both  National Research Center for Food Safety (CNpSA) and Nnational Research CCenter for Micro and Nanomaterials (CNMN).
